Our Cultivation
It all began with me Darla. After marrying into a family printing business in the 90’s, I transitioned from my role as a government employee to working alongside my husband and his parents. It was no small feat! However, as the printing industry began to evolve in 2006, I found myself questioning whether it was wise to rely solely on the family business for our income. The thought of re-entering the workforce loomed large, prompting me to dust off my resume and head to interviews. To my surprise, I quickly realized that going from being my own boss to working for someone else just didn't feel right.
Around the same time, my best friend Lucy, a dedicated teacher, expressed her desire to find something fulfilling to do during the summer months. After all, there’s only so many spa days and lunches one can financially enjoy in a summer season!
It was in my own garden, while we were busy pulling weeds, that the idea for The Garden Girls took root. As we weeded away, a neighbour walked by and asked, “Can you help in my garden?” To our astonishment, they were serious!
It was that moment that inspired us to move outside to the soil and sunshine. Thus, The Garden Girls was born—an adventure that turned our passion for gardening into a thriving business. We embraced the opportunity to connect with nature and our community. We've expanded our expertise, built a fantastic team, and cultivated wonderful relationships with our clients. We’ve been cultivating beautiful garden spaces ever since.
